El Viaje de Abendino (Abendino’s Journey) tells the story of the exodus of a Sephardic Jew from his native Granada to Constantinople, following the expulsion ordered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. During his journey across the Mediterranean, Abendino comes into contact with a wide variety of cultural, religious and musical realities, not without danger, until he finally settles in Constantinople.

The programme combines readings of poetic texts by Sephardic authors and historical documents, which frame the narrative and explain how events unfold, with a repertoire that includes Renaissance and medieval compositions (taken from the Cancionero de Palacio and the Codex Squarcialupi, among others), alongside Sephardic songs and pieces from the oral traditions of the Balkans and Anatolia, performed on both historical and traditional instruments from the different cultures surrounding the Mediterranean.
